Direct Effect In The World

Direct Effect Team Building was recently invited to facilitate a Team Building session for 325 executives in Stavanger Norway for A/S Norske Shell. This is one of Shells global group of energy and petrochemical companies. With over 104,000 employees in 110 countries, they play a key role in helping to meet the world’s growing demand for energy in economically, environmentally and socially responsible ways.

The goal of this session was to increase teamwork and positive leadership skills through an experiential exercise where teams are challenged to build functional fluid transporting “Pipelines” on table tops. This engineering challenge requires creative problem-solving, strict timelines, environmental issues, limited resources and the ability to communicate at a high level with other regional teams. In short the exercise was designed to reflect the same challenges and “real life” issues participants meet each day in their own workplace.

The participation and response to the Team Building exercise was outstanding! Participants had the opportunity to debrief the session and provide constructive ideas and feedback on the effectiveness of the machines they created. Additionally, individuals were able to see firsthand how positive communication, trust, creativity, decision making, and effective leadership impacted their ability to work together. Employees left the experience with a new outlook on Teamwork and a fresh set of ideas to implement in working with their own unique Teams.

Direct Effect In The Community

Direct Effect Team Building Inc. will help sponsor an Eagle Scout project to benefit patients with AIDS. Kyle Benjamin a local Boy Scout from troop 773 is leading the project that will involve community teams painting and donating colorful murals to Padregal House a residential housing facility for low income AIDS patients.

The young Scout is concerned about people in his community suffering from this serious disease and hopes to brighten up their living environment with the colorful murals. Direct Effect staff will donate materials and time to this project and will encourage participation from other organizations in the area.
